police-brutalityJust when the Nigerian community recovering from the shock of having a fellow compatriot disappear without trace at Benoni Gauteng Province, another attempt was made by some rogue policemen at Cape Town to kill an unarmed Nigerian national by stripping him naked on the streets and brutally kicking him in his sensitive parts.

A bystander caught two rogue South African police officers with a private security officer on camera brazenly giving Mr. Clement Emekensha vicious beatings and stripping him naked to the full glare of onlookers. The Independent Police Directorate of South Africa said on Saturday (8th March 2014) that two police officers aged 42 and 45 years old have been arrested and would appear in court on Monday on charges of assault.

The video has sparked a lot of outrage amongst South African citizens and within the Nigerian community resident in South Africa; many have criticized the high handedness of the policemen in question saying their actions are reminiscent of many brutal attacks by criminal elements in the South African police force on Nigerian citizens.

However, most gave kudos to the Independent Police Directorate of South Africa for acting swiftly to arrest and bring the perpetrators of the heinous crime to book and have also tasked the Police watchdog to investigate other numerous like cases that have been swept under the carpet.

In the video, a security guard ripped the shirt-less man’s trousers off and then a police officer repeatedly punched and kicked the man in the groin. Another Police officer held the man in tight grips by his neck.

His underpants came off as the beating continued, before he was loaded into a police car and whisked away.

The private guard who participated in the beating is yet to be arrested.
